In recognition of our commitment to building support and sales expertise, VMWare has confirmed our enhanced status.
This provides us with the ability to offer better solution design resources, improved pricing and stronger support options. Our support team has completed extensive coursework and examinations to verify their knowledge, which has combined with substantial hands on experience gained from assisting our clients with their VMWare deployments.
As one of our solution themes from 2008 has been 'virtualisation' it is pleasing that we are now entering 2009 with enhanced capabilities in this area that has proven to be so important for our clients. On 3 October 2008, Cisco announced a 12% price increase which came into effect one month later. Due to substantial falls in the Australian dollar since 3 October 2008, Cisco is today (December 5) advising their intention to increase current list prices by a further 18% , for product only, effective for all orders received and processed by Cisco on or after Monday 12 January 2009.
Any product orders received and processed prior to Friday 9 January 2009 will be processed in accordance with the currently prevailing price list.
Cisco also advises that at this stage they have been able to avoid an increase in the list prices for our Services , such as smartnet, and Services prices will not be increased as a result of this announcement. After 12 months in the role as Chairman of the Sundata board of Director's, Jon Parker has announced his resignation in favour of his ongoing role as Managing Director of publicly listed mining house, Norton Gold Fields (NGF).
Jon's contribution in that time has been to significantly enhance governance, strategic planning and focus on execution within Sundata and the three founding shareholders and directors, John Hutson, Matthew Parker and (MD) Kon Kakanis have appreciated his significant contribution in that time.
Sundata is currently seeking a replacement non-executive director to take Jon's place within the Sundata board of Directors. In 2008 we increased our activities in support of client communication. This monthly newsletter has been part of our 'mix' of ways to communicate with our clients and contacts, on the capability of Sundata and the offerings from our vendors.
This edition is the final newsletter for 2008, and the next will be issued in late January 2009. We hope you have found the newsletter both convenient and with content that is of value to you.
In preparation for 2009, we would welcome your feedback regarding content and form of our newsletter, in support of making it more useful for you.
For example, areas such as length of news items, number of items, more on technology? more on business impact of IT? and so on.
I would also like to take this opportunity to wish all our readers a safe and happy festive season, a prosperous 2009, and hopefully an improving superannuation balance!
Sundata will be closed from Christmas Eve, December 24 until Monday January 5, 2009.
Regards
Kon Kakanis Managing Director Sundata Pty Ltd. Due to a variety of international pressures and currency fluctuations, Cisco Australia is increasing the Cisco AU RRP Price List from 3rd November 2008.
It appears that Cisco will not be the only vendor to follow this path, as we have seen similar indications from IBM also.
Orders received by Cisco prior to that date will be at the current price. Orders received on or after Monday 3rd November will be processed using the new increased pricing. If you require assistance in assessing the impact of this price change, please contact your Sundata account manager.

Tuesday September 16 saw a number of Sundata customers gather at the Emporium Hotel in the Valley for a presentation from Citrix and IBM which primarily focussed on XenApp 5, which had been released only days before.
Phil Dean Jones from Citrix provided insight into the development path that has led to Release 5 and the type of benefits that Citrix users can expect.
Phil was backed up by Sven Hansen from IBM who outlined the various 'scale out' and 'scale up' strategies available to users building Citrix Infrastructure and the pro's and con's of each approach. Both Blade and multi processor options were outlined in terms of the type of capacity and options for handling additional workloads.
