Chairman - Sundata Pty Ltd
Jon joined the board of Sundata in July 2006 with a brief to support the founders in taking Sundata to the 'next level'. Jon brings over 30 years of experience in senior management and governance to Sundata and has been the catalyst for a major refresh of business goals and plans.
Experience with global, public companies as well as small business in the IT Industry has meant that the Sundata board operates at a professional standard well beyond the norm for a company of this size
Kon Kakanis
Managing Director – Sundata Pty Ltd
Kon Kakanis co-founded Sundata along with Matthew Parker and John Huston in 1986 and is the company’s Managing Director.
From 1986 to 1995 he was solely responsible for Sundata’s sales, and since then has driven the company’s sales growth, bringing it from nil to $12 million in 2007.
Prior to his time at Sundata, he worked as a sales and marketing representative for IBM. While there he was able to re-establish IBM’s presence in the Queensland state government after a 20 year absence in the early 1980s.
Kon also co-founded and was a past chairman of Software Queensland, an organisation that promotes the talents and strengths of software development companies to corporations and governments Australia wide, and was recognised for his outstanding and early achievement in information and communications (ICT) when he was awarded the Queensland Pearcey State Award in 2005.
His extensive experience in the technology industry spans over 25 years and his ability in managing relationships with key ICT suppliers has kept Sundata at the forefront of the IT solutions industry.
John Hutson
Executive Director – QUAD solutions for school administration.
John Huston is the director of software development for Sundata and was one of its co founders when the company began its operations in 1986.
He was chiefly responsible for the management of the overall strategy behind the development, design and marketing of QUAD, a management solution that enables schools to fully monitor, analyse and develop their strategic leadership, student care, educational achievement and financial accountability.
As well as managing Unibol Australia Pty Ltd, a division of Sundata that successfully exported software to Asia and New Zealand, John has also achieved Microsoft Gold Partner certification status for Sundata in providing software solutions for education and school management.
Working for almost 40 years in the IT industry, John’s experience in operations, application development, application design, system implementation and management, has allowed Sundata to maintain a leading edge in the area of software development.
Matthew Parker
Executive Director, Operations - Sundata Pty Ltd
Matthew Parker is the chief operating officer for Sundata and along with Kon Kakanis and John Huston was one of the co-founders of Sundata when the company began in 1986.
With qualifications in IBM certified application development, Matthew had the knowledge required to manage a $16million product development project for IBM IMAS/400 software as well as its implementation into Queensland. His experience in network services led to his appointment as Director of network services in 2000 and director of finance and network services in 2004.
Matthew’s experience extends to almost 30 years in the ICT industry. His depth of understanding in management practices, as well as his ability to coordinate operational processes, has given staff and clients at Sundata confidence that it will maintain its position as a trustworthy and reliable provider of IT solutions for years to come.
